Martha's name may have been Mary Martha E Smith or Martha Mary E Smith ... for the following reason: Martha was enumerated in the 1850 census as age 2, but not enumerated in the 1860 census. Mary was not enumerated in the 1850 census of her parents, yet she was enumerated in the 1860 census as age 12. Neither Martha or Mary were enumerated in the 1870 census with their parents. Martha E Smith married, 1 Jan 1864 in Walton Co., GA, William Henry Smith. I have concluded that Martha and Mary were the same person.
