Carol Lee Bodkin, 74, of Brandywine died Nov. 27, 2008, at her residence.

Born June 18, 1934, at Cherry Grove, she was a daughter of the late Mitchell and Bertie Mae Nelson Teter and the adopted daughter of the late Robert Harry and Jane Lou Harold Simmons.

She had worked at Hanover Shoe and Pendleton Nursing Home. She attended school in Brandywine and loved and collected coffee cups and lighted houses. She was a member of the Cedar Grove Church of the Brethren.

Her husband, Marlin Ray Bodkin, preceded her in death on Dec. 26, 2003.

Surviving are three daughters, Fern Kline and husband, Calvin of Franklin; Elizabeth Hostetter and husband, Richard of Hot Springs, Virginia; and Carol Ann Gross and husband, Albert of Tulsa, OK; two sons, Terry Lee Bodkin and wife, Tammy of Franklin, and Neil Douglas Simmons and wife, Carolyn of New Market, VA; two sisters, Patricia Hartman of Fort Seybert and Catherine Arbaugh of Whitmer; three brothers, Jake Teter of Franklin, Harry Teter of Seman, OH, and Oxford Teter; 15 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by one brother, Melvin Smith; one sister, Gertrude Lambert; and four grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Tuesday at the chapel of the Basagic Funeral Home, Franklin, with Pastor Harold Cullers and Elder David Hartman officiating. Burial was in Pine Hill Cemetery, Brandywine.
