Obituary Thursday, January 15, 1891 from New West-Echo, Cimarron, Kansas newspaper.
Israel Egbert, aged 59 years, died suddenly of heart disease Monday evening at his home in Salem township. Mr. Egbert had been in moderate health previous to his death. He came to this county from Indiana about five years ago(1886-7). The remains were buried at the Ingalls cemetery. The deceased was a brother of J. W. Egbert. The sympathy of the people is extended to those in affliction.

On Monday last about 4:00pm Mr. Israel Egbert, a highly respected citizen of Salmen township, dropped dead while in the act of taking a seat on his return to the house, after having done his feeding, and other work for the night. He was in apparent good health, and it is thought that his death was caused by heart failure. Mr. Egbert was a well to do, industrious, honorable and upright citizen, and leaves a devoted wife and family of children to mourn their loss. His remains will be laid to rest in the cemetery at this place, today.
