Losa LaJune Welborn, 95, of Lee's Summit and Independence Mo., passed away Sunday, November 30, 2008, at the Crown Care Center in Harrisonville, Mo. Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 4, at the Speaks Suburban Chapel. Burial will be in Mound Grove Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 1 p.m. until service time Thursday at the chapel. Donations may be made (in memory of her daughter) to the Geraldine June Kidd Scholarship Fund c/o Cass Medical Center Foundation in Harrisonville. LaJune was born June 16, 1913, in a homestead cabin in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada. She moved to Independence at a young age and graduated from William Chrisman High School. She worked as a wife, mother and homemaker. She was a talented organist, pianist, and artist. She volunteered her time and support for many organizations. She was a longtime active member of the Community of Christ Church. Prior to moving to the Crown Care Center in Harrisonville she had spent many years in Lee's Summit at John Knox Village, where she hosted "Sing-a-long with LaJune" (for the residents to reminisce and sing songs from their younger days.) She was married to Harvey Roland Welborn on Jan. 7, 1933, who preceded her in death. Survivors include a daughter, Loretta "Lorie" Lindsey and her husband George of Woodland Park, Colo.; a son-in-law, Fred Kidd and his wife Connie of Peculiar, Mo.; a brother, Joy Duane Anderson of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; six grandchildren, Marcia Ann McQueary, Bradley Jay Kidd, Patrick Darin Kidd, Careese Richele Mayer, Michele LaNae Vermeulen and Michael Harvey Mayer; seven great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband on Jan. 12, 1994; a daughter, Geraldine Kidd in 1995; a granddaughter, Pamela Jean Hancock in 1989; and a brother, Harold Freeman Anderson.
