Gerda Johns married an American soldier and came to the U.S. with him and four of her children, Klaus, George, Alice and Barbara, in 1960. She and four of her kids became US citizens in Sept 1963. Little did her family know that she already had another son living in the states. Her baby boy was adopted by an American family which were friends of Gerda's. His name is Robert Puckett. Although he met his biological mother as a child, he was never able to find her again as an adult. He did find his family in 2011 and he and his wife Debbie, came to meet his sisters and some of his nieces and a nephew. At that time, he also paid his respects to his mother and stepfather at this grave at St Matthew Cemetery. Bobby and his wife Debbie and their daughter and grandchildren live in Hayesville, NC.
