Long-time Casa Grande teacher Leaota M. Hardt, 57, died after a long illness, at her home on Aug. 16, 1989.
After completing a Master's degree at Arizona State University, Mrs. Hardt moved to Casa Grande in 1968 and taught first grade at Saguaro Elementary School. She taught there for 15 years. She was the October 1988 teacher of the month and later nominated for teacher of the year.
Mrs. Hardt was active in the Alpha Zeta chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma, American Association of University Women and the Arizona and National Education Associations.
She is survived by her husband, Fritz; a daughter, Alice Burger of Gilbert, AZ; a son, Milo Hardt of Chandler, AZ; her mother, Sadie Baughman of Brandsville, MO; three brothers, Lloyd Baughman of Brandsville, MO; Gloyd Baughman of Brandsville, MO; and Eugene Baughman of Nevada, OH; three sisters, Mildred Risner of West Plains, MO; Arlene Consoli of Santa Rosa, CA; Martha Jones of Pine Bluff, AR; and two granddaughters.
A memorial celebration for Mrs. Hardt is scheduled for Tuesday at the United Methodist Church of Casa Grande. Visitation will be Monday at Cole and Maud Mortuary.
