Ione M. Midgarden was born June 4, 1920 in Fertile Township of Walsh County, ND the daughter of the late Ingvald and Ida (Ivesdal) Midgarden. She attended school at Sinkler District #24 and graduated from the Walsh County Agricultural School in Park River, ND in 1938. Ione was united in marriage to Earl Anderson on December 7, 1939 in Crookston, MN. The couple lived and farmed in Fertile Township. Earl passed away on May 7, 2008. In October of 2011 Ione moved to the Assisted Living Apartments in Grafton.
She was a member of the former South Trinity Lutheran Church and WELCA and the Countryside Homemakers. She was very involved with the Walsh County Fair and was active in curling, bowling and softball. She loved spending time in her gardens and sharing her baking with family and friends. She was well known around the area for her lefse.
Ione is survived by her children: Ross (Colleen) Anderson, Grafton, ND; Vance (Karen) Anderson, Grafton, ND; Genell (Wayne) Jallo, Fordville, ND; nine grandchildren: Shelly (David) Wickert, Stone Mountain, GA; Melissa Anderson, Grafton, ND; Lindsey Anderson, Grafton, ND Megan (Davis) Thompson, Grafton, ND; Holly (Jon) Natonick, Phoenix, AZ; Paul (Breanna) Anderson, St. Paul, MN; Phillip (Jen) Jallo, Lankin, ND; Nathan and Adam Jallo, Fordville, ND. Five great grandchildren also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Earl.
Funeral services will be Saturday, March 21, 2015 at 2:00 PM at Zion Lutheran Church, rural Hoople, ND. Visitation will be Friday from 5-7 with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Grafton. Friends may also call at the church on Saturday for one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at South Trinity Lutheran Cemetery rural Grafton in the spring. In lieu of flowers the family would prefer memorials to the South Trinity Cemetery Fund.
