Obituary Gonzales Inquirer Feb. 17, 1966

Nixon—Charlie A. Bartlett passed away on January 24, 1966 in Victoria hospital following major surgery. Interment was in a Victoria cemetery.

He had attained the age of 73 years, 6 months and 16 days.

He was the youngest son of the deceased W. L. Lafayette and Josephine Fridge Bartlett. He was married to Miss Annie Sauer of Smiley on December 26, 1912. To this union three children were born, Lionel, Naomi, and Joyce. They and their families were so happy with him and mother. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. His passing is the first in their family.

At an early age, he United with the Methodist church, but at the time of death was a member of Nixon Baptist church. His former pastor, Rev. R. H. Hogg, of Refugio, officiated at the funeral, held in the McCabeCarruth Funeral Home in Victoria on January 25th.

The Nixon Smiley Community will remember Annie and Charlie as a devoted couple, friendly and sympathetic to all.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John Abner Bartlett and Mrs.T.N.Lillie Woodall, a small brother Curtis.

Survivors include his widow, Mrs.Annie Bartlett, one son Lionel of Victoria, two daughters, Naomi of Victoria and Joyce of Lubbock, sister Mrs. Orpah Wishert of Cuero, a niece, Mrs. Clyde Stulting of Karnes City, nephews, Douglas and Max Woodall of Nixon, Paul Woodall of San Antonio, Wayland Woodall of Hurst, Louis and Leon Wishert of Cuero.
