Unity – September 18, 1951 – Alton W. Libby, 57, died early today at a Waterville hospital. He was born July 25, 1894, at Unity Plantation (Kennebec County, Maine), the son of Stephen and Hattie (Walker) Libby.

He was a farmer for many years and was later employed by the state. More recently, he had been a mechanic for the Portland Packing Company, Unity. He was a member of Benjamin Berry American Legion Post of Unity and Harvest Moon Grange in Thorndike.

He is survived by his wife, Beulah (Walton) Libby; a sister, Mrs. Agnes Adams of Unity; and an aunt, Mrs. Kate Nickerson of Swanville.

Funeral services will be held at the Unity residence Thursday at 1:30 p.m. with the Rev. Shirley Morgan officiating. Burial will be in the Pond Cemetery in Unity.
