Son of John R. and Sara (Fischel) Fluke, and was twice married, first to Elizabeth Fuerhelm, who died in 1936, then to Alice Pearl Morgan, who died in 1954. Sons: John L., of Des Moines, Iowa, and Dale R., of Carrolton, Ohio; seven grandchildren, one great-grandchild, a brother and a sister, John C., of Tatesville and Mary Caterine Fluke of Martinsburg. He was of the Brethren faith. A retired rancher and carpenter, he moved to Nebraska in 1895 and homesteaded in Montana from 1913 until returning to Morrison's Cove in 1950.
A note from a contributor Mary: "My parents bought the Fluke homestead from Hugh's brother. We were raised in the same old stone house! It was built before 1800! They said it was an old fort."
