James Wright was the son of Malcolm and Agnes Wright born in Stirling, Scotland. He married Christine Aitken July 20, 1828 in Stirling, Stirlingshire, Scotland. They came to Canada approximately in 1851 from their home in Tillicoultry, north of Stirling. They first settled at Smith Falls, Ontario and then moved to Wellington County between Harriston and Clifford, Ont. They were Congregationalists.
