On December 10, 1944 he was united in marriage to Elaine Youngmark at Sturgate, Kansas and to this union one son, David was born. The family made their home in Holdrege, where Earl was employed as an engraver for Palmer Brothers Granite Company for over 30 years.
He was past member of the Eagles Club and a past member of the Elks Lodge, past Commander of the Martin Horn American Legion Post #66 and in charge of the American Legion Color Guard for several years. He received a 60 year service award from the American Legion and was a life member. Earl enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening.
He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Elaine of Holdrege; one son, David L. Carlson of Holdrege; a sister-in-law, Edith Youngmark of Holdrege; and a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters: Pearl Anderson and Leona Lyon; and three brother-in-laws: Paul Anderson, Milburn Lyon and Bernard Youngmark.
