Services for Mr. Robert Hamer were held Sunday, August 7, 2005, at The Chapel of Remembrance in Winona with Mr. James Bennett officiating. Interment was held at Shady Grove Cemetery near Kilmichael with Roberts & Sons Mortuary in Winona in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Hamer, 94, of Kilmichael, died Wednesday, August 3, 2005 at Kilmichael Hosptial.

He was a Navy Veteran, and a pastor of various churches throughout Mississippi, and one in New York. He was most recently the pastor of Friendship M.B. Church, in Greenwood, Miss., and also Shiloh M. B. Church, in Belzoni, Miss.

He held the following positions: Dean of Greenville Center of Mississippi Baptist Seminary, Secretary and Treasurer of Miller's Memorial Community Center, President of Progressive Baptist State Convention, Inc., a board member of Progressive National Baptist convention, Inc., State Director of Christian Education of Progressive State Congress, a board member of Leflore County Progressive Association, a board member of Humphrey's county Brotherhood Association, President of Leflore County Sunday School, BTU Singing Fellowship, and Director and President of Norman C. O'Bannon High School Alumni Association.

Survivors include his brother, L. B. Hamer of St. Louis, Missouri, and his sister, Willie Ann Mays of Kilmichael.
