Happy – Frances B. Blake, 91, died Saturday, April 7, 1990, in Canyon.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Happy Church of Christ with Bob Shepard of the Church of Christ Bible Chair and Chris Swinford, minister of Happy Church of Christ, officiating. Burial will be in Happy Cemetery by Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors of Canyon.
Mrs. Blake was born in Hillsboro, Tenn. She moved to Happy many years ago from Winfield, Kan., and had lived in Kansas for 40 years. She served in the U.S. Navy during World War I. Mrs. Blake was a homemaker. Her husband, George R. Blake Sr., died in 1985. Two brothers preceded her in death, Robert Bugg in 1920 and Ernest Bugg in 1982.
Survivors include three daughters, Margaret Groves of Starkville, Miss., Lucy Moudy of Happy and Mary House of Albuquerque, N.M.; a son, George R. Blake Jr. of Canyon, two sisters, Lucy Pope of Houston and Ida Hackney of Jellico, Tenn; a brother. Dr. Colden Bugg of Memphis, Tenn.; 16 grandchildren, and 25 great-grandchildren.
The family requests memorials be to the Happy Cemetery Fund, High Plains Children's Home or a favorite charity.
