Roland Curtin was the son of Augustine Austin and Mary O'Loughlin) Curtin. Margery (Gregg) Curtin was his 1st wife. They were married Centre Co., Pennsylvania, November 25, 1800. Margery died January 15, 1813. Jane (Gregg) Curtin was his 2nd wife. They were married September 15, 1814. Jane died February 20, 1854. Roland was an ironmaster.

--He was "educated in Paris, France, where he narrowly escaped the guillotine during the Reign of Terror." He arrived in Philadelphia in 1793, settled in Philipsburg, Pennsylvania and in 1799 moved to Bellefonte.
