Jane Beardwood came from England with her father and several siblings on the ship Tuscarora in 1856. She was a resident of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and died in Santa Monica probably while on a visit to her children.

While her California death certificate lists her birthdate as 1839, her birth registry entry in England says 1838.
