Clifford E. "Tiss" Miles, 85, of Coalport RD went home to be with his Lord surrounded by his family Wednesday after an extended illness.

He was born in Berwinsdale, son of the late George and Vera (Beals) Miles. He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Virginia Sinclair, June 5, 1993. They were married January 18, 1946. He was also preceded in death by brothers: Cloyd and Leonard.

He is survived by sons: Gary (Barbara Young) of Westover, Randy (Marilyn McCoy) of Coalport RD, and Terry (Dee Dee McGarvey) of Hollentown; seven grandchildren: Jolene Cidor, Greg, Whitney Moritz, Eric, Shelley, Jeremy and Kayla; three great-grandchildren: Rachael and Lydia Cidor and Jacob Ponish; a brother, Richard (Barbara Nevling) of Coalport RD; sisters in law: Patricia (Clark) Miles of Curwensville and Janice (Wisor) Miles of Osceola Mills; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was a graduate of Coalport-Irvona High School. He was an Army veteran of WWII, where he was awarded four Bronze Stars. He worked for Greenrich Dairy and Sanitary Dairy as a milkman, then worked for PPG in Tipton for 16 years and retired in 1985. Cliff was an avid golfer and sportsman. His passion for life was reflected by his never-ending smile and his love for his family, friends and especially his grandchildren. He was a devoted father, grandfather and great-grandfather and was loved by everyone who knew him. He was a member of the Coalport VFW, where he was a past post commander, and a member of the Coalport Presbyterian Church. He attended the East Ridge United Methodist Church of Harmony.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday and 1 until the 2 p.m. funeral service at Sunday at Gibbons Funeral Home, Coalport, the Rev. Matthew Blake Sr. officiating. Committal at Fairview Cemetery, LaJose RD. Military Rites in charge of Coalport VFW. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to the Alzheimer's Association in Cliff's memory.
