Born in Hot Springs, NC he was the son of the late John A. and Rosa Gowan Beck.
He was a charter member of Bethel Baptist Church and was a retired contractor.
Surviving are 2 sons, Thomas Beck, James Beck and wife Linda, all of Laurens; 2 daughters, Mary Evans and husband Ralph, Barbara Culbertson and husband Danny, all of Laurens; 10 grandchildren, Janie Evans, Wilson Evans, Karen C. Ivey, Jason Culbertson, Pam Byars, Michael Beck, Stephen Beck, Leslie Beck, Tim Beck, and Emily Starnes; and 14 great-grandchildren. Mr. Beck was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Funeral services will be 11:00 am, Friday, November 28, 2008 at Bethel Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Robert Branch and Rev. Jack Reid with burial in the church cemetery.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
