Services for Veda Abbott Brown will be held today at 11 a.m. at James F. Webb Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ron Gill officiating. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery.

Mrs. Brown, 92, of Meridian, died Monday, Oct. 23, 2006, in Augusta, Ga. She was retired as a manager for Corr Williams Wholesale. She was a member of Poplar Springs United Methodist Church in Meridian and also a member of Grace Circle. In 1978 she received the Citizenship Award at the Southern Tobacco and Candy Association Convention and she served as director for the Southern Tobacco and Candy Association. She received the Carl Swisher Woman of the Year award in 1981 at the National Association of Tobacco Dealers Convention. She was a past president of the State Tobacco and Candy Association of Mississippi. She enjoyed her work and continued to work into her early 70's.

Survivors include her daughter, Rebecca Brown Wright of Augusta, Ga.; grandchildren, Ashley Wright and Robert F. Wright III and his wife, Michelle; great-grandchildren, Raley Wright, Ann Sutton Wright, Robert F. Wright IV; a sister, Ethel Abbott Allred of Crystal Springs.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James G. Brown; brothers, Ishmel Abbott and David Abbott.

Memorials may be made to Poplar Springs United Methodist Church in Meridian.

Visitation will be today one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
