New Auburn Resident Dead
John M. Richy a Highly Respected Citizen Succumbs Last Sunday.
New Auburn, Minn. – Died at his home in the village of New Auburn at 12:30 o'clock Sunday night. John Miller Richy, in the 74th year of his age. The late Mr. Richy was born in Stoe Creek, Cumberland Co., N. Y., Feb. 20th 1835. When twenty one years of age he came to Walworth, Wis., and in 1863 removed to Minnesota where he has since resided. In 1866 he was united in marriage to Cordelia Green. Four children were born to them, on dying in infancy; the surviving are Mrs. F. M. Rea of this village, Mrs. Warren Harris, of New Jersey, and son Clarence who resides at home. Mr. Richy had been in poor health for many years, and for months his demise had been expected. He was a very patient sufferer and was also active and helpful whenever his strength permitted. When the death angel passed over he took a man whom the world Called "good." Too much cannot be said in praise of his life, and the good influence which radiated there from must be felt eternally. The world is better because he lived in it. He was converted in 1871, uniting with the Seventh Day Baptist church of which he was a consistent member at the time of his death, and from which edifice his funeral service was conducted, the Rev. Harry officiating. The many friends of the family extend to them heartfelt sympathy in their bereavement.
