Mrs. Velma Lena Gosdin, 85, of Douglasville, formerly of Newnan, died Dec. 30, 1997. Born June 29, 1913 in Randolph County, Ala., Mrs. Gosdin was the daughter of the late Joseph Bennie Douglas and Amanda Eliza Vowell Douglas. She was a member of Bowdon Baptist Church and the Joy Singers and was a custom drapery designer.

A service was conducted Friday at Bowdon Baptist Church with Dr. Ron Huggins officiating. Interment followed at Bowdon City Cemetery with Kent Watkins, Chris Watkins, Tim Hagar, Pete Green, Junior Whitmore and Chad Whitmore serving as pallbearers.

Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Janice and Bill Sangster of Smyrna, June and Larry Watkins of Marietta; sisters, Gleamer Yates, Elma Green, Jewell Whitmore, all of Woodland, Ala.; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
