Lena Antonia Varisco

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 26, 2008, at a 1:00 PM Mass of Christian Burial in La Chapelle de Martin & Castille in Lafayette, for Lena Antonia Varisco, 97, who passed away peacefully on Friday, November 21, 2008 at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center in Lafayette.

Interment will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.

Reverend Curtis Mallet, Pastor of St. Genevieve Catholic Church in Lafayette, will be the Celebrant of the Funeral Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Lector will be Wanda Varisco. Karen Broussard, organist and soloist, will sing "Amazing Grace", "Ave Maria", "On Eagles' Wings" and "In The Arms of the Angels" for the services.

Survivors include one daughter, Mary Ann Mouton and her husband Robert of Lafayette; two sons, Frank Varisco, Jr. and his wife Betty of Lafayette and Joseph Varisco and his wife Lottie of Denver, CO; nine grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; and two sisters, Anna Vitte of Arnaudville and Jenny Ardoin of Opelousas.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Frank Varisco, Sr.; one son, Charles Varisco; and her parents, Frank and Cosama Irene Graffeo.

A native of Arnaudville and a resident of Lafayette for 77 years, Lena Antonia Varisco was a member of St. Genevieve Catholic Church, a member of the Red Hat Society at Lady of the Oaks Retirement Manor and a very religious person. She also enjoyed playing bingo. Lena Varisco was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She will be dearly missed by her family, friends and all who knew her.

A Rosary will be prayed by Victor Varisco on Tuesday, November 25, 2008 at 7:00 PM in Martin & Castille Funeral Home.

The family requests that visitation be observed on Tuesday from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM and on Wednesday from 8:00 AM until time of service.

Donations can be made in Mrs. Varisco's name to the Alzheimer's Association, 107 Global Circle, Suite 203, Lafayette, LA 70503.
