Obituary - JAMES HOWARD ADCOCK
It is with deep regret that we report the death of one of Ramonas's oldest and most loved citizens, James Howard Adcock.
Funeral services were conducted at the home by Rev. Elder of Vera, and the body was laid to rest in the Tyner Cemetery east of the Caney River.
Mr Adcock was born in Wapello County, Iowa, December 14, 1851. He was brought up there on the old home place. His own father died when James was about sixteen years of age, after which he cared for his mother and the younger children until his marriage on November 26, 1871, to Nancy Ann Fletcher.
To them were born five boys and five girls. Three boys, Howard, Curtis and Morgan, and one girl, Martha, died in early childhood. The living members of his family are his wife, Miss Maud Adcock now at home, Mrs. Don Platzer of Houston, Texas, now at home, Mrs. John Devine and Mrs Florence Hatton, both of Tucson, Arizona, Fletcher and Orlan Adcock of Ramona. Besides the immediate family, he has one brother and two sisters living, C.H. Adcock of Glenpool, Oklahoma, Mrs. Viola Santee of Mistic, Iowa, and Mrs. Ellen Kach of Salina, Kansas.
Mr. and Mrs. Adcock came to Checotah, Indian Territory, in 1906 where they lived until they came to Ramona in 1910, having lived here ever since taking their part in life's affairs honored and loved by scores of friends.
CARD OF THANKS - Ramona Herald, June 18, 1926.
We wish to take this opportunity to thank our neighbors and freinds for their many kindnesses during the sickness and death of our loved husband and father. We also wish to thank you for the beautiful floral offerings.
