VIROQUA/FORT ATKINSON - Judith Ann "Judy" York, age 65, of Viroqua, and formerly of Fort Atkinson, passed away suddenly at her home on Wednesday, April 16, 2003. She was born on March 22, 1938, in Fort Atkinson, to Edgar and Marie (McSpadden) Fry. She graduated from Fort Atkinson High School in 1956 and then attended the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater.

On Dec. 27, 1958, she married Bruce York. They lived in Marshall and Cobb until moving to Viroqua in 1965 where Bruce taught. She worked more than 15 years as director of occupancy for the Viroqua Housing Authority. She was an active member of Viroqua United Methodist Church and an avid tennis player. She and Bruce enjoyed 45 years of love and friendship and together they raised three daughters.

Judy is survived by her husband, Bruce; three daughters, Jody (Ross) Chambers of Milaca, Minn., Jayne (Daniel) Carrington of Burnsville, Minn., and Lisa (Dale) Arndt of West Salem; four beloved grandchildren, Chloe and Halle Chambers, Ashley and Bryce Arndt, and a soon to be adopted baby, Carrington; a sister, Mary Witford of California; three brothers, Wallace and John Fry of Fort Atkinson, and Robert Fry of Springfield, Mo.; other relatives and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers; a sister; and a sister-in-law.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, April 21, 2003, at VIROQUA UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, with Pastor Ki Sung Kim officiating. Burial will be in the Viroqua Cemetery.
