My great grandmother spelled her name Periman, not Perryman. Perryman appears in some Census records for Brighton MO but if you look at the grave of her parents, James Henry and Harriet Daugherty the last name is spelled Periman. We also have a Periman Bible and from James and Harriet with the spelling Periman. He married name Pelts was also changed to Peltz. Family lore said that Orlena's daughters changed Pelts to Peltz because they thought Pelts was too closely tied to dead animal skins. Her signature on Civil War pension papers was Orlena Pelts
