Mr. James J. Davis Dead

Gloom was cast over the entire community last Monday evening when it became known that Mr. James J. Davis an old and highly respected citizen of this place, was dead. He was years old and had been in feeble health for many months. Although very few knew of his serious illness. For a number of years he lived at old Americus and about four years ago, gave up his farm on account of failing health and moved to this place.

He was a member of the Methodist Church and lived a consistent Christian life and was beloved by all. He leaves a wife, five sons and four daughters, L.L. Davis of Moss Point, J.P. Davis of Harleston, McDavis of Point and Davis of Jackson and Hubert Davis of this place; his daughters are Mrs. H.C. Walker of Hattiesburg, Mrs. J.W. Carter of Vancleave, Mrs. D.E. Victor of Trenton, and Miss Claudie Davis of this place. Besides a host of relatives and friends to mourn his loss and to these we extend our profound sympathy.

He was buried from the Methodist Church and interred in the Lucedale Cemetery.
