Arvin Dan Alexander, 83, died Saturday, December 6, 2003, at Carl Vinson VA Hospital in Dublin, Georgia. The Tattnall County native was a U. S. Army veteran, and a member of Collins Baptist Church. He was a former Civil Service employee, had served as a Tattnall County Commissioner, and was a former member of the Tattnall County Health Board. He previously owned and operated a service station and garage and a restaurant in Collins. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Dana A. McDaniel.
He is survived by his wife, Joann Alexander of Collins; one daughter, Gale Blazek of Kingsland; one son, Dale Alexander of Collins; two grandsons, Brett McDaniel and Richard Alexander; one stepdaughter, Joan Galbreath of Montgomery County; and three stepgrandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, December 8, at Collins Baptist Church, with the Rev. Calvin Durrence officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Dean Collins, J. E. Stanfield, G. W. Thompson, Tony Hutcheson, Frank Murphy, and Jerry Alexander.
Honorary pallbearers were Bobby McDaniel, James Morris, Charlie Anderson, Jack Boyette, Cornelius Costen, Ansley Jordan, Franklin Mack, and Marquette Waters.
Cobb Funeral Home of Glennville, Georgia, was in charge of the arrangements.
