Henry Smith Clark, 79 years of age, died at his home in the Rocky Creek community Tuesday morning at 4:30 o’clock.
Mr. Clark had been a resident of this county for the past 30 years, coming here from Kent County, Michigan during the infancy of the county. He has since that time been prominent in the development of the county.
He has been one of the progressive farmers, having looked to the future while in his prime, and had a comfortable farm on which to spend his declining years, on which could be found various kinds of fruits, nuts, and other delectable things of the farm. For the past several years Mr. Clark has been in declining health, but always able to be up and about.
Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at 4:00 o’clock, at the funeral home of McKay’s Morticians, with Rev. R.A. Allums, pastor of the Lucedale Methodist Church having charge of the last rites.
Interment was in the Magnolia cemetery with the masons in charge. Pallbearers were Dr. R.F. Ratliff, T.M. Ferrill, H.J. Solomon, O.F. Moss, T.H. Byrd, P.P. Bailey, R.M. McKay, John D. Parker, and D.D. Larrimore.
His is survived by his widow, one sister, Mrs. Carrie A. Church, of Grand Rapids, Mich., and two nieces, Mrs. Frances E. Lane Prichard, Ala., and Mrs. Wanetobe M. Pierson, of Grand Rapids, Mich., to these, the Times joins their friends in extending sympathy.
