Rev. J.D. Clough, 74, died Sunday at noon at his home at 901 Houston Street. Rev. Clough, a retired Baptist Minister, had lived in Plainview with Mrs. Clough since 1918. He was the father of Mrs. Etta (William) Johnson, Mrs. Nancy (William) Speck and Dr. Clovis M. Clough, all of Plainview and William S. Clough of Seymour. These children with his wife Ella survive him. A son, John Asa Clough, died in 1920 and is buried here.
Funeral services were held at three o'clock at the Baptist Church. Rev. G.I. Britain, officiated, assisted by Rev. J.P. Siler and Rev. J. Pat Horton. Interment followed in the Plainview Cemetery under the direction of the Plainview Undertaking Company. Active pallbearers were Jamie Owens, W.D. Herring, Edgar Hatton, C.J. McMillan, Henry Minter, C.G. Goodman, W.B. Davenport, and W.C. Henley.
Honorary pallbearers were Tom Shelton, G.H. Allen, A.D. Ml.'s?, H.W. Visor, Mr. White, D.M. Rhomas, J.T. Story, Guy Jacob, Lester James, G.W. McDonald, Z.T. Huff, Jo Wayland, George Saigling, W.H. Murphy, Ben McNillan, R.L. Newton, Wm. Malone, R.A. Underwood, E.J. Morehead, Rev. Marsh, Mr. Heston, Frank Day and Ellis Carter.

John's namesake is the man who raised his father, John Dunbar.
