Wayne Edward Hill of Fairland died Monday, Nov. 17, 2008, at St. John's Regional Medical Center in Joplin, Mo., after an illness.

He was 73.

Mr. Hill was born Oct. 23, 1935, in Fairland to James Henry and Naomi (May) Hill. He was a life long Fairland resident.

He worked for B.F. Goodrich in Miami form 1956 to 1985, when he retired. He was a member of the Fairland Volunteer Fire Department from 1962 to 1982. He later worked for Shangri-La Golf Course and Peoria Ridge Golf Course as a mechanic. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Fairland, Frisco Lodge No. 24 A.F.&A.M., Tulsa Scottish Rite Consistory and Akdar Shrine Temple in Tulsa.

He married Beverly G. Vinyard on March 19, 1954, in Fairland. She survives, of the home.

Additional survivors include one son, Gary Hill of Fairland; three daughters and their husbands, Terri and Steve Thomosson of Bartlesville, Shelly and Eddie Gaston of Sapulpa and Peggy Mahurin of Fairland; one brother and his wife, Clyde and Claudine Hill of Jay, six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Paul Thomas Funeral Home in Miami. The Rev. Andy Krebs will officiate.

Burial will be Fairland Cemetery.

Masonic rites will be conducted at Miami Lodge No. 140 A.F. &A.M.

Pallbearers will be Don Babst, Charles Babst, Ron Vincent, Jim Blalock, Milton Hale and Nash Flores.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
