Jack J. Wampler 81 of Richmond died Thursday October 16, 2008 at his grandson's home after a short illness. He was born May 8, 1927 in Ansonia, Ohio to Claude and Beulah Irene Feltman Wampler, moving from Union City living here most of his life. Jack retired from Belden Corporation after working 37 years as a machine operator. He was an Army veteran of World War II serving overseas in Germany. He was a member of the Kirk Little VFW Post #1108 and the Howard Thomas American Legion Post #315, where he was a past commander. Survivors include his son Jon Wampler of Richmond, a grandson who he raised as a son Jack Jay Wampler of Richmond, two daughters Christina white of Richmond and Jacqueline Clark of Connersville, four step sons Bob Emery of South Bend, Stuart Emery of Staten Island, New York, Edward Emery of Dayton, Ohio, Bruce emery of St. Petersburg, Florida, one step daughter Cora Emery of Carthage, 13 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, one brother Don Wampler of Greenville, Ohio, two sisters Sue Ann Strayer of Germantown, Ohio and Carolyn Adcock of Muncie, nieces and nephews. His wife Cora died in 2003, his parents, one sister Phyllis Clark, and one brother Robert Wampler are also deceased. Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Tuesday October 21, 2008 at Stegall-Berheide-Orr Funeral Home with David Garman officiating. Burial will be in Goshen Cemetery with military rites by the Wayne County Veterans Council Honor Guard. Friends may call 4-8 PM Monday at the funeral home.
