MaryAnn Theresa Tooley passed away peacefully on Friday, Oct. 18, 2013 at the age of 92, at Sheila's Care Home in Redmond, Ore.

MaryAnn was born in Melrose, Minnesota on April 22, 1921 to Frank and Elizabeth Hinnenkamp. She was raised on a dairy farm and was one of thirteen children. Farm living gave MaryAnn the strong work ethics and family values that she held onto throughout her life. At 22 years of age she met, fell in love, and eventually married Dick Tooley. They lived in Minnesota until 1950 before moving their small family to Sunnyside, Wash. to be closer to Dick’s parents. Being the wife of a potato foreman, mechanic and miner, the family lived a nomadic lifestyle moving many times throughout Washington and Central Oregon, including Lookout Mountain in the Ochocos. MaryAnn made every house they lived in a “Home” for her family. It was her enduring love, strength and courage that held the family together through many difficult times. In 1962, Dick and MaryAnn and their family of six children eventually settled in, what they called “God’s Country”, Prineville, Ore.

A little shy, MaryAnn loved spending time with her family and enjoyed dancing, playing pinochle, gardening, decorating the inside and outside of the house, especially during the holidays (winning many contests). She enjoyed doing crafts, sewing, bowling, attending church and playing pranks.

An avid sports fan, she loved attending ball games and dance recitals, especially when her children/grandchildren were participating.

MaryAnn loved traveling and was fortunate to be able to visit many places including Hawaii, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, Mexico (cruises), and the Canadian Gulf islands.

She had a kind/generous heart and loved to laugh....she loved animals and always had a bird, a dog and/or a stray cat or two.

MaryAnn was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Richard “Dick” Tooley. She later met Fred Hanson who became the second love of her life. Fred remained her loyal friend and companion until her passing.

MaryAnn was and will always be loved and respected by her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and she will be missed dearly. Her legacy is the invaluable life lessons she passed along everyday of her life, not so much through her words, but by the way she lived her life.

She is survived by her son, Dennis Tooley (Penny) of Redmond Ore.; daughter, Sharon Allured (Gordy) of Bonners Ferry, Idaho; daughter, Sandra Severance (Joey) of Tacoma, Wash.; daughter, Judy Hadfield (Brad) of Portland, Ore.; son, Danny Tooley (Teresa) of Prineville; and daughter, Jan Howard (Marty) of Prineville; 12 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. Her sisters, Ida Pung, Leona Beuning and Jeanette Zehrer all of Melrose, Minn.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday November 16 at 1 p.m. at the Community Church, 520 N.E. Elm St., Prineville, OR. A Celebration of Life will follow at the Prineville Eagles Lodge.

Memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of Redmond, The Prineville Eagles and/or Prineville Senior Center.
