J. R. Arnett, 89, Dies in Stanton
STANTON, May 15 (Spl).-- Joseph Richard Arnett, 89, whose background was connected closely with West Texas, died Sunday morning at his home in Stanton.
He had been in failing health since 1943.
Arnett was born in Burnet County and moved to Martin County in 1904. He worked as a cattle inspector for 25 years, with his headquarters in Pecos. The cattleman also worked for the Mexican government.
Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Fannie Rogers of Stanton; a son, Carter Arnett of merced, Cal.; three brothers, Tom and Albert Arnett of Lubbock and Bass Arnett of Hugo, Okla., seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday in First Methodist Church at Stanton, with Rev. Hugh H. Hunt officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery with Masonic services at graveside.

Funeral in Stanton For Joseph R. Arnett
STANTON, May 16 (Spl). -- Funeral services for Joseph Richard Arnett, 89, early-day resident of Martin County and a cattle inspector for 25 years, will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the First Methodist Church here, with burial in Evergreen Cemetery.
Arnett died Sunday morning at his home in Stanton.
He was born in Burnet and moved to Martin County in 1904.
