She was born in McDowell County to the late George and Jane McFalls Robinson. She was a resident of McDowell County her entire life and was a member of Old Fort Wesleyan Church. She retired from Old Fort Finishing plant.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Earl Smith; six sisters, Louise Liner, Sarah Burroughs, Nora Allison, Madge Young, Minnie Foster and Mildred Smith.
She is survived by nine children, Frances Griffin and husband, Calvin, of Matthews, Earl Smith Jr. and wife, Linda, of Concord, Thomas Smith of Marion, Mary Jane Walker of Old Fort, George Smith of Linwood, Nancy Smith of Fresno, Calif., Margaret Smith of Charlotte, John Smith of Charlotte and Kathy Lamb and husband, Mike, of Old Fort; 17 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren.
Services will be held Saturday, Nov. 15, 2008 at 2 p.m. at the Old Fort Wesleyan Church with Rev. Bill Tietje officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Burial will be in Salem Freewill Baptist Cemetery in Old Fort.
Blanche was an avid reader; so donations in her memory may be made to the Old Fort Library. Kirksey Funeral Home, Old Fort will be assisting the family.
