George was a 1945 Chillicothe High School graduate. He was a veteran, and served in the U.S. Army from June 1945 until December 1946. He retired from the Lambert Glove Factory in Chillicothe, Mo., where he worked as a leather cutter. John was a member of Calvary Baptist Church American Legion Post #25 and the Odd Fellows Lodge #91, all of Chillicothe.

Survivors include a son, Jerry Scott (Pam); stepchildren, Randy Rasche (Terri) of Chillicothe, Ronda Bohl (Andrew) of Olathe, Kansas and Angie Holcomb of Chillicothe, Mo.; seven grandchildren; father and mother-in-law Harold and Flora Wagner of Hastings, Nebraska; brothers-in-laws, Jerry Wagner (Nancy) of Aurora, Colorado and Paul Wagner (Nancy) of Darlington, Wisconsin; and several nieces and nephews.
John was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Garry Scott; and a brother, George Leon Scott.
