Irene Bailey Tinney , 82, of Sissonville died Sunday, July 14, 1996, at home after a long illness.

She was a lifelong resident of Sissonville. She was a former Kanawha County elementary teacher and a hardware store proprietor. She was a member of Humphries Memorial United Methodist Church, Sissonville, a recipient of the 50-year service pin for United Methodist Women, president of United Methodist Women's Society, secretary to the church board and a Sunday school teacher. She was a member of Friends of Sissonville Library and a Cub Scout den mother. She attended Morris Harvey College and Marshall College.

Surviving: husband, Karney E. Tinney ; son, John H. of Charleston; daughter, Elizabeth Garten of Orlando, Fla.; four grandchildren.

Service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Humphries Memorial United Methodist Church with the Rev. J.W. Holtsclaw and the Rev. Leon Rhodes officiating.

Burial will be in Floral Hills Gardens of Memories, Pocatalico.

Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Long-Fisher Funeral Home, Pocatalico. The family suggests memorial contributions to Humphries Memorial United Methodist Church or Kanawha Hospice Care Inc.
