Ezra was the sexton at Garden Bluff Cemtery from 1937 to 1950. He also dug graves in seven different cemteries in the area, including Mt Pleasant.

Lodi - Ezra R. Smith, 60, Lodi, died Wedensday in a Portage hospital after a long illness.

Mr. Smith was born in West Point and married Lillian Braun of Sauk City Mar 14 1929. They farmed in the West Point area until 1952, when they moved to Lod.

Mr. Smith had been employed by the Oconomowoc Canning Co. of Waunakke and DeForest since moving to Lodi.

He was a member of the Methodist Church, Lodi, and of the Modern Woodman.

Madison survivors include a son, Wallace, 4517 Judy Lane.
Also surviving are his wife, a dauhter, Mrs. J. Bruce Wilson, Lodi: a sister, Mrs. Hazel Bruhn, Englewood, Calif; and six grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 1:30 P.M. Saturday in the Hamre Funeral home, Lodi, where friends may call after 4 P.M. Friday.
