She married Henry S. Jolly Jr. on April 6, 1942 in Winfield, Louisiana and together they were blessed with four children:

Jeanette (Jolly) Hyles, who preceded her in death on June 7, 1989; Jeanette had two children, a son and daughter-in-law, Roger and Karen Hyles of Phoenix, Arizona and together they had four children and eight grandchildren; and a daughter and son in-law, Rachel and Terrance McKenzie of Roland Oklahoma.

Together they were blessed with three children, Jill Ann Mercurio Johnston, who passed away on April 30, 2011; Jill had three children and would have been a grandmother to three grandchildren; a son, Anthony William Mercurio and his significant other, Angie Kadell of Grafton and Angie's four children; a daughter Heather Jolly of Jerseyville and her two children and their father, Brad Meyer of Otterville. Ray and Sandy are also blessed to call Sandy's first husband and his wife, Joseph Anthony and Lyn Mercurio of Fishcreek, Wisconsin as part of their family.

Gladys was most proud to be the center of a very dedicated military family. Her husband, Henry Jr. as well as her sons, Henry II and Garland, all retired from the Army with her son Raymond serving four years in the Army. In addition, her grandson Roger Hyles served ten years in the Army and her grandson, Henry IV, and granddaughter, Kelly, both retired from the Air Force.

She was loved by the staff at Jerseyville Estates as well as her four very special friends who resided there with her, Irene Bowman, Sissy Hansen, Ann Ducey and Joetta Million. She was loved very much by her family and many others along life's journey.

Gladys was a gifted seamstress and was still embroidering and stitching quilts at age 96!

The family would like to express their heartfelt thank you to all the staff at Jerseyville Estates and the staff of OSF Hospice for the kind and loving care they provided Gladys. Your love and kindness will never be forgotten.

They also would want to especially thank their cousins, Kathy Albrecht and Sherry Williams for helping them through a most difficult time.
