OBITUARY- Times Post, Houston, MS Sep. 29, 1955

Funeral services for Mrs. Era Blue, 48, who died suddenly at her home in Vardaman early Thursday morning, were held from the Vardaman Baptist Church Sunday afternoon at 2 pm with the Rev. Mr. Bennett officiating, assisted by the Rev. L. M. Wright.
Mrs. Blue was the former Miss Era Lancaster of Houlka, but had made her home in Vardaman since her marriage to Jewett Blue on Oct. 30, 1930.
She was a member of the Baptist Church, an Eastern Star, also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She was active in all civic affairs for the upbuilding of her community, especially her church work which she loved so much. An Eastern Star service was observed at the graveside.
Survivors are her husband and two sons, Jimmy of Vardaman and George David with the Army in Korea; four brothers, Bill Lancaster of Jackson, TN, Lee Lancaster of Memphis, TN, Jud Lancaster of Houlka and J. L. Lancaster of Pontotoc; two sisters, Mrs. Verona Brown of Houston and Mrs. Vesta Baskin of Houlka. Interment was in the Vardaman Cemetery with Cook Funeral Home in charge.
