Mabel Susan Rouse was born on 9 Dec 1891 in Unionville, Putnam County, Missouri to George W. Rouse , a barber shop owner and photographer, and Helen M. (Bunker) Rouse.She married Frank Edgar Monroe 28 Aug 1917 at Brookfield, Linn County, Missouri. Two children were born to this union: Donald Eugene b. 12 May 1920 and Frank Merrill b. 15 May 1921. Seven grandchildren later arrived followed by 10 greatgrandchildren. She loved to sew, crochet, paint, play piano and organ, garden and was a very excellent cook. She lived most of her life in Hibbing and Chisholm, Minnesota where her husband worked for the Oliver Mining Company as a locomotive engineer. She developed colon cancer and died 21 March 1970 at the age of 79. Her husband Frank passed away 1 March 1972 with pneumonia at age 83. Mabel lost her only sibblings, a baby sister Doris in 1889 and an infant brother Earl in 1890, before she was born. She was also a member of the Daughters of the Revolution through her Great Great Grandfather Joseph Bunker 1738-1826. Her ancestors owned and farmed the land where the Battle of Bunker Hill was fought, just north of Boston, MA on 17 June 1775. She was a member of the Methodist Church, and had played piano and organ in the Brookfield, Missouri Methodist Church.
