William McKinley Cobb, 100, of Bells, died Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2008.
He was the retired owner of Bells Hardware Co., a former Bells city alderman, past director of the Bank of Crockett, the oldest member of Bells First Baptist Church, where he formerly served as deacon, was a 63-year member of the American Legion and was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Bells First Baptist Church with the Rev. Dennis Davis officiating. Burial will be in Belleview Cemetery. Brownsville-Bells Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
The family will receive visitors from 5-8 p.m. today and at 10 a.m. Saturday at the church.
Survivors include his wife, Helen Patterson Cobb; a daughter, Joan Cobb Climer and husband, Hinton, of Bells; three sons, Billy Cobb and wife, Pauline, and Roger Cobb, all of Bells, and Danny Cobb and wife, Judy, of Newbern; 13 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Bessie Cobb Dill; and two brothers, Lawrence and Barney Cobb.
Pallbearers will be grandsons Ray Climer, Mike Cobb, Owen Cobb, Dan Cobb, Taylor Cobb and Jack Burgess.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be directed to Bells First Baptist Church or a charity of the donor's choice.
