Leonard "Chet" Groulx was born in Ogdensburg on Aug. 17, 1931, a son of Joseph X. and Eva Lesperance Groulx. He attended Ogdensburg Free Academy and married Barbara J. Sholette June 7, 1956, in Notre Dame Church, Ogdensburg, with Msgr. A.D. Charbonneau officiating. The couple had lived at their present address for 24 years.
Mr. Groulx served in the Navy from August 1951 until August 1955, during the Korean War. Then, for several years, he operated a general store on the Massena-Waddington Road. For the past 19 years, he had been employed by the Madrid-Waddington Central School System, working for the past nine years as head custodian at the Waddington School. He was also a bus driver in the school system at the time of his death.
He was a member of St. Mary's Parish.
