Caroline Behrens married Ludwig Gerke [9762649] in April 1876 - Ludwig died the following February, and then Caroline married Ludwig's brother, William (Wilhelm) 15 March 1877, less than 3 months before Friedrich August Ludwig Gerke was born (10 June 1877) - St. John's Lutheran Church, Ridgeville, in their confirmation record for Friedrich August Ludwig Gerke, lists Ludwig Gerke as his father. [Confirmation Record Book 2, Record #51] Census records show William as his father, but given the time frame (3 months) and the church record it is more likely that Ludwig is his father.
