MONROE CENTER - Beatrice I. Hildebrand, 95, formerly of Monroe Center, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 15, 2011 at Avalon Village in Ligonier, Ind. She was born on Oct. 21. 1916, in Monroe Township to Aaron J. and Blanche F. (England) Larson.
Beatrice graduated from Monroe Center High School in 1934. On Dec. 5, 1936, she married Lyle H. Hildebrand and he preceded her in death on April 23, 1990. She was also preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Lewis and Chester; four sisters, Mary Baker, Martha Hildebrand, Mabel Pearson and Virgie Genandt; son-in-law, Richard Love in 1991; and great-grandson, C.J. Hasting in 1983.
Beatrice and Lyle farmed in the Monroe Center area. She was a secretary for the Monroe Center School, substitute rural mail carrier and clerk for the Monroe Center Post Office and former Monroe Township Clerk.
Survivors include daughters, Marilyn (Jacob) Gloor of Ligonier, Ind., and Joan (James) Birchall of Rochelle; son, Donald (Carol) Hildebrand of Belvidere; 10 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great-grandchildren.
Services were held at Unger-Horner Funeral Home on Sat. Dec. 17 at 2 p.m. Visitation was one hour prior to the services from 1 to 2 p.m. at Unger-Horner. Burial was at Monroe Center Cemetery.
A memorial has been established.
