George H. Barker, who passed away at the L.D.S. Star Valley Hospital on July 15 of a heart attack was born in stl Charles, Idaho, October 3, 1874. He spent his early childhood there and it was not until after he grew to manhood that he came to Star Valley.
He was married to Charlotte Ann (Lottie) Wilkes November 28, 1904 at St Charles. They were later married in the Logan Temple.
Mr. Barker lived on his farm north of Afton, and operated the town milk wagon for many years. five years ago he moved into Afton and became caretaker for the Afton cemetery and for four years he has been custodian of the Afton North Ward Chapel and Stake Tabernacle, a position he held with dignity. He took pride in his work and always kept the building clean and neat and the grounds well kept, green and beautiful.
His good wife preceded him in death but a few months; she passed away last October. He leaves to mourn; George L (Lorel) Barker of Haywood, California, DeVere Barker of Afton, Merl Barker of Pocatello, Idaho, Golden Barker of Napa, California; Fern Heap of Thayne, Ardell Barker of Afton, and Nelden Barker of Idaho Falls.
Funeral services were held in the Afton North Ward chapel Friday July 18, conducted by Bishop E. Francis winters.

George Hyrum Barker, 73, of Afton, passed away Tuesday morning at about 10:30 a.m. presumably of a heart attack. He was at his home and called Autna stock next door on the telephone and told him he was not feeling well and asked him to come over. Autna rushed him to the hospital but it was too late. He was pronounced dead upon his arrival there.
Mr Barker was very prominently known in Star Valley where he has lived for many years. he was the caretaker of the stake House at the time of his death. the beautiful grounds there are a tribute to his fine work.The community was greatly shocked at his sudden death which came about a year after his wife was buried.
Funeral services will be held in the North Ward chapel at 1:30 p.m. Friday.
