He passed away Sunday, Nov. 9, 2008, in a Dallas hospital.
Willis Cline was born July 6, 1938, in Goldthwaite, to Aubra and Lois (Booker) Cline. He attended school and graduated from Goldthwaite High School and later attended Tarleton State. He served in the United States Army. On March 18, 1961, he was married to Shirley Morgan at Goldthwaite. He was a member of Coggin Avenue Baptist Church and had lived in Brownwood for 37 years. Willis worked for the General Telephone Company (GTE) for 25 years, retiring there in December of 1988. He liked to tinker, sometimes with old cars, meeting and greeting people entering the A-1 Lock Shop, and traveling, always to the West. He absolutely adored his six grandchildren, and they loved him. Mr. Cline is survived by his wife, Shirley Cline; daughter, Lori Coppic and husband Michael of Brownwood; son, Larry Cline of Austin; grandchildren, Jesse, Zac and Colby Coppic of Brownwood, Christian, Carson and Cullen Cline of Austin; sister, Dorothy Parker; brothers, Ronnie and Coy Cline.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Aubra and Lois Cline.
In lieu of flowers, Mr. Cline's family requests memorials be made to the Building Fund of the Coggin Avenue Baptist Church, 1815 Coggin Ave., Brownwood, TX, 76801, the Corinne T. Smith Animal Center, 3016 Miliam Dr., Brownwood, TX, 76801, or the charity of your choice.
