Henrietta Greenfield, died late Monday afternoon, Mar. 30, 1998 at the Lennox Good Samaritan Center, Lennox, SD. She attained the age of 92 years, one month and seven days.

Henrietta Engeline Greenfield was born in Grundy Center, IA, on Feb. 23, 1906, the daughter of the Rev. Oltman B. and Elizabeth Oltmans. She attended high school in Sibley, IA, and then moved with her family to Avon, SD. She received her elementary teaching certificate from Madison Normal School. During her teacher career, she furthered her education at Sioux Falls College.

On May 23, 1928, she was united in marriage to Fred. H. Greenfield, at Mitchell, SD.

Following their marriage they lived in Hurley and Davis before moving to Lennox in 1940. She taught in various rural schools and in the Hurley and Lennox Public Schools, spanning a 44 year period. Her husband preceded her in death on Mar. 6, 1973. She continued to make her home in Lennox, and became a resident of the Lennox Good Samaritan Center in 1993.

Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one sister and four brothers.

Survivors include her six children: Joye E. Westra of Centerville, SD, Ruth E. Kuper of Lennox, James M. Greenfield of Apache Junction, AZ, Russell R. Greenfield of Sioux Falls, SD, Robert D. Greenfield of Apache Junction, AZ, and Donald D. Greenfield of Jackson, NJ; 22 grandchildren, and 31 great-grandchildren.
