BOYD MAN DIES AFTER LONG ILLNESS
SERVICES HELD TODAY FOR FORMER RESIDENT
Jerry Salyers, 77, Ashland, a retired employee of Armco Steel Corportation., died Sunday morning in King’s Daughters Hospital after an extended illness. Born February 10, 1879, in Johnson Co., he was the son of the late Lewis and Nancy Sloan Salyers. He retired in 1944 and was a member of the First Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Susie Compton Salyers; four sons, Edward Salyers, Wheelwright Elzie Salyers, Wharton, WV., Herschel Salyers, South Point, Ohio and Ernest E. Salyers, of U.S. Air Force, Germany; four daughters, Mrs. Albert Short and Mrs. Clarence Bailey, both of Flatwoods, Mrs. W.E. Blevins of Russell and Mrs. Cecil George of Ashland and three step- children, all of Ashland, Funeral services were held this afternoon at the Westwood Enterprise Baptist Church.
