22 Nov 1935: Rev. Emmanuel Ghares, 88, died last night at the home of L. O. Herb, Mt. Carmel, following a nine months illness of complications. He was for thirty years minister of the Church of God, Fredericksburg, and had been a carpenter in his early life. His wife preceded him in death seven years ago. Rev. Ghares leaves to survive the following children: Samuel, of Tamaqua; Daniel, of Fredericksburg; Mrs. L. O. Herb, of Mt. Carmel, and a sister, Mrs. Lizzie Mattern, of Lehighton, as well as the following brothers, Elias, of Hickins; John, of Pitman, and Joel, of Pottsville. Fifteen grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren also survive. [Lebanon Daily News]
