Civil War Veteran Dead

George A. Robinson, 80 years old, a civil war veteran, died Sunday at the home of C.T. Slavens, 1110 South Joplin avenue, Pittsburg, Kansas. A son, F.W. Robinson of Detroit, Mich., survives. Mr. Robinson's wife died in 1907.

For many years "Yankee" Robinson was a character around Cherokee, first living on the farm near the lake south of town, and later living in town and working as a stone mason.

Mr. Robinson was born in Vermont, November 16, 1840. He enlisted in the Union army of the Civil war when nearly 22 years of age serving from September, 1862, to January, 1865. He was in Company K, First Vermont Heavy Artillery. Contributed by Cheryl White

I believe that who ever wrote the article for George's obit in the newspaper was incorrect in saying that FW Robinson was a son of George. FW was a nephew of George. FW stands for Forest Ward Robinson and he was the son of Wilbur A. Robinson and Emogene "Emma" L. (Bliss) Robinson.
